First prize for Selgascano y FRPO prize in the international competition to design the Rozafa Hotel Tower in Shkodra, Albania.
Spanish architectural firms Selgascano and FRPO have won first prize in the international competition to design the Rozafa Hotel Tower in Shkodra, Albania.
Mecanismo Ingeniería was part of the team that developed the proposal as Structural Engineering Consultants.
Shkodra, known for its cultural and historical significance, features a mix of Illyrian, Roman, Ottoman, Venetian, and neoclassical architectural influences. FRPO and Selgascano’s approach respects this diversity, aiming to integrate the new tower into the city’s urban fabric while celebrating its heritage.
The tower’s fragmented geometry creates dynamic facades that respond to the surrounding landscape while visually lightening the structure. This design reduces the perception of the building as a monolithic mass and enhances its integration into the urban and natural context.
Congratulations Selgascano and FRPO.
