Law Faculty of the CEU San Pablo University
We would like to share some images of the recently inaugurated Law Faculty of the CEU San Pablo University on the Moncloa campus in Madrid, designed by José María Sánchez García, in which Mecanismo Ingeniería participated in the development of the Detailed Design Project and the Site Supervision of the building’s structure.
The building stands out for its geometric rigour, in which modulation has marked the development of the project.
The structural design incorporates some unconventional solutions, such as the introduction of Vierendeel beams (with some triangulations in certain cases) between two consecutive floors, thereby freeing the classroom floor at the ends of the building completely from columns, every two floors.
In addition, given that the reinforced concrete structure is visible both inside and outside the building, thermal break boxes have been used around the entire perimeter of the slabs.
Finally, the central part of the building features a structural timber grandstand, composed of CLT panels and GL24h glulam elements, which connects the different floors via concrete walkways on which it rests.
