The Valle de Salazar Multipurpose Center is an initiative of the Government of Navarre, framed within the Strategic Development Plan for the Pyrenees, aimed at providing the valley with a mixed-use business and public facility that centralizes services for both companies and the community.
The Center acts as an activating node at the Valle de Salazar scale, matching the scale of the linear infrastructures that structure the territory (the Salazar River and the NA-178 road). The building is conceived as an informational landmark, facing the roadside, to achieve its main goal: identity and visibility.
The typology accommodates public uses — such as a multipurpose hall and administrative offices for the valley’s management — while also stimulating the industrial and commercial fabric of the area through the proposed productive spaces and local facilities. The spatial type is resolved through a sequence of three longitudinal bands with variable cross-sections, maximizing flexibility for future uses and transversal connections.
The Center is rooted in its local context: through the use of traditional sloped roofs and the industrial typology of its surroundings, the enhancement of the valley’s transitional landscape, and its triple materiality — steel cladding (industrial context), pine wood (economic and cultural context), and local limestone.
The structural system consists of steel frames. In the main halls, purlins support the secondary enclosure substructure, while roof trusses act as bracing beams to stabilize the overall structure.
